![]() Practice success will be enhanced by regularly scheduled team meetings. Gathering as a team for a few minutes at the beginning and end of each day helps ensure that nothing slips through the cracks and keeps everyone on track. The morning meetings in my office consist of reviewing our meeting book (where team members add reminders for the day) and a schedule SWOT (Strengths/Weaknesses, Opportunities/Threats). A Strength may be a gap in the schedule that is open to fill, a Weakness could be an overlap in the scanning area or x-ray room, an Opportunity could be some patient reactivations, and Threats may be noting the patients that require extra time or who are often late. Each office will have their own unique SWOT criteria, but it is important to identify these areas on each day’s schedule so that you can maximize your efficiency and provide the best patient care. Our end of day meeting reviews any items from the morning that are still outstanding, compares our patient visits to our targets/estimates, and gives us a forum to bring up the good things that happened that day. It’s sometimes easy to focus on the negative things that occur during the day, but it is extremely important to remember the successes and feel-good moments to remind everyone of the impact we have on patient’s lives. Have fun while you build your practice, increase your profits, and enjoy your life! Dr. Jeff Scholten
